๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Community Protection & Responsible Blacklisting

Running an online community means being responsible for more than its appearance or activity. It means making difficult decisions about conduct, trust, and the well-being of your members.

Harassment, scams, repeated disruption, and serious misconduct can damage a community's atmosphere and place unnecessary pressure on its leadership. When owners lack reliable information, addressing those concerns becomes even harder.

Our goal at IRIS is to help community leaders make informed decisions by providing a place for concerns to be reported, supporting evidence to be reviewed, and relevant information to be shared responsibly.

We recognize that blacklisting carries real consequences. A report can affect someone's reputation, their access to communities, and the way others treat them. For that reason, accuracy, context, and fairness must remain central to the work we do.

Our approach is guided by several principles:

  • Evidence matters. Reports should be supported by relevant information that can be examined, rather than treated as fact simply because an accusation was made.

  • Context matters. An isolated screenshot or disagreement may not tell the whole story. The surrounding circumstances should be considered.

  • Fairness matters. Personal relationships, popularity, rank, and community size should not determine how a concern is assessed.

  • Privacy matters. Information should be handled with care, with unnecessary personal details kept out of public discussion.

  • Corrections matter. When new evidence changes the understanding of a situation, there should be room to reassess the information and correct inaccuracies.

We want community owners to have useful information they can evaluate alongside their own rules and responsibilities. Each community remains responsible for its own membership and moderation decisions.

IRIS's protection work is intended to support safer communities. Reports must never become an invitation to threaten, harass, expose private information, or organize retaliation against another person.

๐Ÿ“ข Advertising & Community Growth

Getting a community started is an achievement. Helping it grow takes continued effort, visibility, and a clear reason for people to join.

We understand how discouraging it can be to put time into a project and struggle to reach an audience. You may have dedicated staff, original content, and an experience you're proud of, yet still need help getting your name in front of people.

IRIS aims to provide advertising opportunities that help communities introduce themselves, explain what they offer, and connect with potential members.

Whether you are preparing for a launch, rebuilding your community, promoting an event, or expanding an established network, our goal is to help you communicate what makes your project worth exploring.

We want advertising through IRIS to help communities:

  • Reach audiences who may be interested in participating.

  • Present their identity, purpose, and opportunities clearly.

  • Promote launches, events, recruitment, and community updates.

  • Build recognition and connect with potential partners.

Growth looks different for every community. For some, it means finding more active members. For others, it means recruiting dependable staff or building lasting partnerships. We want to support growth that fits your goals and strengthens the experience you provide.

๐Ÿค Partnerships & Networking

Community ownership can feel isolating, especially when you are handling difficult situations without anyone to turn to.

IRIS aims to bring owners, staff teams, creators, and organizations together so they can exchange ideas, share experience, and build professional relationships.

We believe there is value in communities supporting one another. An experienced owner may have insight that helps someone avoid a common mistake. A creator may find a community that needs their skills. Two leadership teams may discover an opportunity to collaborate.

Our goal is to encourage those connections through respectful communication and a shared interest in helping communities succeed.

You should be able to take pride in your own community while respecting the work others are doing. Strong partnerships begin with that understanding.

โš–๏ธ Professionalism, Transparency & Accountability

Trust has to be earned through the way an organization operates.

At IRIS, we are committed to approaching our work with professionalism, integrity, and fairness. That means communicating clearly, being honest about what we can provide, and treating concerns with the attention they deserve.

It also means recognizing our own responsibility. As a newly founded network, we have work ahead of us. We intend to listen to feedback, improve our processes, and remain willing to address mistakes.

We want people to understand our purpose and the principles behind our decisions. Where information can be shared responsibly, we aim to provide clarity while respecting privacy.

The standards we ask others to respect should also guide our own leadership and conduct.

๐Ÿ’œ The People Behind Every Community

Our mission reaches beyond community owners.

It includes the member who wants somewhere enjoyable to spend their time. The staff member who gives up part of their evening to help. The developer, designer, or creator whose work gives a community its identity. The newcomer who is looking for a place to belong.

Those people shape the experience a community provides.

We want IRIS to support leadership decisions that take their needs seriously, help worthwhile projects find an audience, and encourage an environment where people can participate with confidence.

No service can prevent every disagreement or guarantee a community's success. What we can work toward is better information, stronger connections, and practical support for the people doing the work.

๐ŸŒ Our Vision

Our vision is to build IRIS into a trusted network where community protection and community growth support one another.

A growing community needs thoughtful leadership and dependable standards. A well-managed community deserves opportunities to reach people who will value what it offers.

By bringing protection, advertising, and networking together, we aim to help owners strengthen their communities today while preparing for what comes next.

Whether you are starting with a small group of friends or managing an established organization, we believe your work deserves consideration and respect.

A Message From Our Founders

When Ken and I founded IRIS, we wanted to create something useful for the people behind online communities.

We know that ownership comes with decisions people do not always see, work that does not always receive recognition, and challenges that can take the enjoyment out of something you once felt excited to build.

Our goal is to give you support as you navigate those responsibilitiesโ€”and to help you keep sight of why you started.

To the owners, staff, creators, partners, and members who choose to be part of IRIS: thank you for giving us the opportunity to earn your trust. Your feedback and participation will help shape the network we build.

Welcome to IRIS Blacklisting & Advertising.

Protecting what you've built. Supporting where you're going.
